WSHC+B partner Anne Flanigan authored an article in the Summer 2024 issue of The Federal Lawyer detailing the Broward County Chapter’s inaugural Book Fair. The event, which provided over 1,000 books to students at Morrow Elementary, was the first of its kind for the Federal Bar Association and was made possible through a partnership with Read USA, Inc.

The event was held at Morrow Elementary, a public school where children are primarily from minority and low-income demographics. Volunteers, including members of the Broward Chapter, the Clerk of Court’s Office, and four members of the federal judiciary, helped the children select books.

“The participation of the judges and U.S. attorney had a profound impact on the children, most of whom had never encountered a judge or prosecutor—at least not outside of a courtroom setting,” Anne writes. The judges not only read books to the students but also engaged them in discussions about their careers, planting seeds of ambition in young minds.

Anne is a civil litigator whose practice includes federal civil rights matters, personal injury, contract disputes, and real property claims. She is active in the local federal bar community, where she serves as the current President of the Broward Chapter.
