Weiss Serota Helfman Cole + Bierman is proud to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth by highlighting the achievements of our Black professional clients who are shaping industries and building lasting legacies. This month, we’re honored to spotlight Xavier Murphy, the visionary founder of Jamaicans.com, the leading digital platform dedicated to Jamaican culture, travel, food, and lifestyle.

Founded in 1995, Jamaicans.com started as a passion project to connect Jamaicans worldwide. Under Xavier’s leadership, it has grown into a trusted resource with a monthly reach of over 500,000 across its website and social media channels. What began as a printed newsletter, “Nuff Respect,” in 1992, evolved into one of the first online platforms dedicated to the Jamaican diaspora—long before digital media became mainstream. Despite challenges like the dot-com crash, Jamaicans.com thrived, powered by a loyal and engaged global community.

Today, the platform is widely referenced by mainstream media and the Jamaican Government’s information service, further cementing its credibility and influence. Through diverse content such as the “Jamaicans to the World” interview series, engaging video features, and real-time cultural coverage, Jamaicans.com continues to educate, entertain, and inspire.

A signature initiative of the platform is the Best of Jamaica Awards, launched in 2004 to honor outstanding contributions from the Jamaican diaspora across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Jamaica.

As the platform approaches its 30th anniversary this year, Xavier remains committed to its mission: celebrating, connecting, and empowering Jamaicans globally while preserving the island’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.

We are honored to recognize Xavier Murphy for his pioneering vision and dedication to empowering the Jamaican community worldwide through the digital space.
