On November 13, WSH attorney John J. Quick was elected President of the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library. John will serve as President until November 2014. Founded in 1974, the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library is a non-profit volunteer organization that raises funds for and advocates on behalf of the Miami-Dade Library System. Through its outreach activities, the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library helps promote and fund numerous library programs, such as the Art of Storytelling Festival, Children’s Book Week, and other programs promoting literacy.
John is Of Counsel with the Firm and a member of its Litigation Division and its Appellate Practice Group. His trial practice focuses on complex business, commercial, municipal/governmental, transportation, construction, aviation and real estate law before Federal and State courts, as well as mediation and arbitration. John also has appellate experience arguing cases before the Florida Supreme Court, all of the Florida District Courts of Appeal, and many United States Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is also active in numerous professional organizations and civic affairs; John currently serves as the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for HistoryMiami and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Historical Society. John is also the Past Chair of the Flagler Street Society.
