Congratulations to WSHC+B partner Marlon Hill, a recipient of the Marcus Garvey Community Service Award, presented by the Rootz Foundation Inc. at the Miramar Multi-Service Center.

Marlon and two other nominees were recognized at the 20th Annual Marcus Garvey Rootz Extravaganza. The award recognizes important members of the Jamaican community.

The event, timed to honor the 137th birthday of political activist Marcus Garvey, was attended by Jean Garvey, the widow of Marcus Garvey Jr.

The Rootz Foundation provides essential educational, cultural, recreational, health, and multimedia intervention services nationally and internationally to underserved individuals, especially minority students.

Marlon represents businesses, entrepreneurs, and local and international governments in corporate, intellectual property, and government matters. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Marlon has served as a civic leader in a number of roles across South Florida, especially with African-American and Caribbean-American communities.
