Construction Contract Drafting and Negotiation

Led by a chair who is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar, our construction lawyers have helped our public and private sector clients navigate through the many challenges they face when engaging in construction projects.

Through our extensive municipal practice, we are experienced in drafting and negotiating construction contracts that protect our local governments and institutions of higher learning on the “owner” side of the construction equation. We have drafted and negotiated construction agreements, and are involved in our public clients’ construction projects from procurement through development, final completion of the project and post-completion warranty issues. We have worked on public projects such as schools, dormitories, libraries, parks, sports and recreation facilities, amphitheaters, city halls, utility plants, water and sewer systems, and solid waste systems. We have drafted and negotiated construction contracts on behalf of public sector clients on cumulative projects totaling more than a billion dollars in construction work in South Florida.

For our private sector clients, we have experience drafting and negotiating favorable construction agreements on behalf of owners and developers with architects, engineers, contractors, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment agents. We are involved in our private sector clients’ construction projects from procurement through construction, final completion, turnover and post-completion warranties. We have worked on behalf of our developer clients on all types of private projects such as high-end custom homes, renovations, airports, condominiums, apartment complexes, apartment buildings, community centers, golf courses, hotels, resorts, casinos, restaurants, retail stores, and other commercial projects. We have drafted and negotiated construction contracts on behalf of developers and owners on single projects as large as $800 million and cumulatively, totaling several billion dollars in construction work in South Florida and the Caribbean.

We also have extensive experience drafting and negotiating construction agreements on behalf of our architect, contractor, subcontractors and equipment supplier clients. Here again, we are involved in construction clients’ projects from procurement through post-completion warranties. We have worked on behalf of these clients on all types of private projects, including high-end custom homes, renovations, roads, bridges, landfills, airports, condominiums, apartment complexes, apartment buildings, community centers, golf courses, hotels, resorts, casinos, shopping centers, restaurants, retail stores, and commercial projects. We have drafted and negotiated construction contracts on behalf of our construction industry clients on cumulative projects totaling more than several hundred million dollars in construction work in South Florida and throughout the Caribbean.
