Sports, Arts and Entertainment

Business Transactions Division

We represent and advise talent, organizations, and facilities in professional and collegiate sports, entertainment, and the fine arts. We have been involved in some of the most significant projects and events in Florida since their inception, and we have the legal, business, and government affairs experience to produce the win for our clients.

Talent

Many of our lawyers are athletes and artists themselves, and they understand that individuals with rare talents and abilities need expert help to monetize and maximize their abilities and protect their interests. Whether we’re representing you in an endorsement contract or defending you from allegations that might impact your career, we represent you with passion, enthusiasm, and relentless zeal. We counsel athletes, artists, musicians, designers, writers, entertainers, chefs, and agents. Most recently, we negotiated multi-year endorsement contracts with Speedo, TYR, Omega, Coca-Cola, Comcast, NOBULL, Hershey’s, and Toyota, as well as sponsorship agreements with Beats and GrubHub, for our athlete clients, including Caeleb Dressel and Bobby Finke. We also work with student-athletes early in their careers to navigate them through changing name, image, and likeness laws that vary from state to state. We have also consulted with eight first-round draft picks for the NFL and are featured on the NFL League Security Video, which is shown to every player to advise them on potential pitfalls for celebrity professional athletes.

Our lawyers negotiate, litigate for, and advise clients with respect to a range of legal issues concerning artists’ rights, works of art, and the art market. Our clients include internationally recognized individual artists, museums, and other nationally recognized institutions. Most recently, we successfully represented a celebrated artist in recovering fees and protecting his intellectual rights and assisted a world-renowned fashion designer with lease negotiations in connection with an opening in South Florida.

Lawyers across a broad spectrum of specializations lend whatever support is needed to provide the most comprehensive representation possible for our sports, arts, and entertainment clients.

Organizations

We represent some of the most significant sports, entertainment and arts organizations in the country. The group’s extensive knowledge of the ownership structures used by professional sports franchises, combined with our experience in establishing public/private coalitions to support sports-related projects, enables our attorneys to represent owners and investors in the purchase and sale of sports teams and ownership interests in such teams. We also represent major arts, exposition and entertainment presenters whose events draw worldwide audiences. For example, we assisted Art Basel Miami Beach in organizing and establishing its first event outside of Switzerland in Miami Beach in 2002. Since its first show, ABMB has become the international standard in worldwide exhibitions. We also represent Informa, the world’s largest trade show producer, and owner of the Miami International Yacht Show and Art Miami. The public-private relationship is an essential element in the success of any major sports, arts or entertainment exhibition. Whether we are representing a governmental, not-for-profit, or for-profit entity, our knowledge of law, business, government, arts and sports provides our clients with the right ingredients for success.

We also represent Informa, the world’s largest trade show producer, and owner of the Miami International Yacht Show and Art Miami. The public-private relationship is an essential element in the success of any major sports, arts, or entertainment exhibition. Whether we are representing a governmental, not-for-profit, or for-profit entity, our knowledge of law, business, government, arts, and sports provides our clients with the right ingredients for success.

Additionally, the group’s extensive knowledge of the ownership structures used by professional sports franchises, combined with our experience in establishing public/private coalitions to support sports-related projects, enables our attorneys to represent owners and investors in the purchase and sale of sports teams and ownership interests in such teams.
